WhistlePig’s Snout-to-Tail Bourbon, aged for ten years, marks a bold entry into the bourbon scene by the Vermont-based whiskey maker. This release represents the culmination of a decade of experimentation with aging techniques. The Snout-to-Tail maturation process involved barrels being flipped 180 degrees to enhance the infusion of flavors from two toasted barrel heads — Vermont oak and smoked maple wood. This distinct approach challenges traditional bourbon production, making it particularly appealing to consumers who appreciate experimental finishes and premium aging processes.
Bottled at 88 proof, the bourbon offers a complex flavor profile that includes honey, brown sugar, and toasted cashew notes, followed by roasted almonds and baked cornbread, and finishes with a cedar and crusty bite.
The introduction of this whiskey is complemented by WhistlePig’s expansion into Kentucky with the opening of the PiggyBank, which will provide an immersive experience for whiskey lovers.
